FD&C Red40 Lake is not water-soluble but provides a bright vivid colour in the product itself.
Lakes have better stability to light, acids and alkalis.
Insoluble but dispersible in water and oils.
For best results in liquid soaps and bath bombs use polysorbate 80 at a rate of 1.5-2% of your total batch weight. This will suspend the color and evenly distribute it properly.
For use in cosmetics generally but with restrictions in the US.
USA - Not approved for use in the eye area.
